Projects

Examples of the work eventulu does in studios, galleries and live venues, described by what was looked at and what changed.

Selected work

Studio, camera, light and sound work

These entries describe the kind of job we take on and the detail we look at. Each one shows how a problem is approached, from the first measurement to the document that is handed over.

  1. Studio floor and cable route plan

A new studio layout where cable routes were drawn before furniture was placed. Camera positions, power points and the path to the control room were settled on paper first.

  2. Matching a three-camera chain

Three studio cameras were adjusted so skin tones and whites read alike on the gallery wall. Settings were recorded so the setup could be restored after maintenance.

  3. Lighting plot for a talk set

A plot for a small talk set that kept faces evenly lit without overloading the circuits. Fixtures were chosen with the camera exposure in mind.

  4. Tracing audio delay in a playout chain

Lip-sync drifted late in long programmes. Measuring each stage showed where delay entered, and the fix was a single setting rather than new equipment.

  5. Gallery workflow observation

A gallery session was observed from start to finish, noting where cues were repeated or missed. The report suggested changes to who calls what and when.

  6. Fault finding workshop for crews

A workshop built around the faults a team met in real shows. Crew traced a signal from camera to output and practised isolating each stage.

Control Room Workflow Audit

  1. Observation of a live session

We sit in the gallery during a rehearsal or show and watch how cues move between people. We note repeated instructions, waiting and workarounds. Observation is quiet and does not interrupt the crew.

  2. Conversations with the crew

Short talks with the director, vision mixer operator, graphics operator and engineers follow. People describe pain points in their own words. These talks often explain behaviour we saw but could not account for.

  3. Review of systems and connections

We look at how the vision mixer, graphics system and monitoring are connected and controlled. Where equipment forces extra steps, we say so. Recommendations separate cheap changes from larger ones.

  4. Written report

The report lists findings in order of importance, with the reasoning behind each. It is written for managers and engineers alike. We go through it with you afterwards.

A short record of how we have worked

eventulu was founded in Cambridge in 2014 and has worked for television and live media clients since. The team covers studio design, camera systems, lighting and audio, so most jobs are handled by the people who will write the report. We keep our own count modest and prefer to describe the work rather than inflate it.
